Wintermute has launched Custom Baskets, a new product family for multi-asset strategies, with Custom Basket Swaps as the first product. The structure allows exposures to be managed at basket level, while a new case study shows how one digital asset fund trading with Wintermute moved from 13 single-name CFD positions to two baskets across a sector view and a portfolio hedge.

Some strategies naturally involve multiple assets, from sector views to broader portfolio hedges. Yet implementing them can still mean building and managing the exposure name by name.

Wintermute is launching Wintermute Custom Baskets, a product family for expressing and managing multi-asset strategies through a single position. The first product, Custom Basket Swaps, brings multiple assets into one synthetic position, so entry, resizing and exit can be managed at basket level rather than constituent by constituent.

Custom Basket Swaps use the same full portfolio margining and soft liquidation framework as Wintermute’s broader derivatives offering, with flexible funding schedules available daily, on business days only, or around TradFi fixings.

A digital asset fund trading with Wintermute was running two different strategies through 13 individual CFD positions.

The first was a view on the perp DEX sector. The second was a long/short portfolio with concentrated longs and a broad altcoin hedge. Despite the different objectives, both required the fund to manage several single-name positions to maintain one broader exposure.

Working with Wintermute, the fund replaced those 13 positions with two Custom Basket Swaps, one for each strategy. The perp DEX view could be managed as one sector position, while the short side of the long/short portfolio could function as one broad hedge rather than a separate set of individual shorts.

The full case study looks at how each basket was constructed, how the fund set funding and rebalancing terms, and what changed once the two strategies moved from single-name positions to basket-level implementation.
