At a glance

  • Date: Friday, 9 October 2026, 2-6 pm
  • Location: Wintermute office, Central London
  • Audience: Graduates interested in trading roles starting in 2027
  • Registration: Apply with your CV by 21 September 2026

What happens on the day

You'll spend the afternoon in the Central London office on the kind of problems Wintermute traders deal with every day, with those traders in the room observing how you think. The challenges are practical and trading-inspired, and between them you'll see the office, talk to senior people on the trading team, and hear how they think about markets. There will be food and drink throughout the afternoon, plus some Wintermute merch to take home.

What you'll be working on

The afternoon is built around a series of challenges designed to test your intuition. Some examples could include:

  • Quantitative and technical games: Probability, estimation, and quick arithmetic, played fast and under pressure.
  • Market-making challenges: You'll quote both sides of a market, take on the positions that come with it, and see what happens as the price moves.
  • Trading tests: Decisions made with a clock running and less information than you'd like, the conditions traders work in every day.

Who should apply

Prior trading experience isn't required, and neither is a background in crypto. Curiosity and tenacity matter far more. This is for people who:

  • Want a trading role at Wintermute starting in 2027
  • Love solving hard problems with Python
  • Are curious about algorithmic and high-frequency trading

How to get in

Your CV gets you into the online assessment, the assessment gets you into the room, and the room gets you to a final interview:

  • Apply with your CV by Monday, 21 September
  • Selected applicants receive the online assessments before 23 September. They need to be completed by Monday, 28 September.
  • Top performers will receive their invitation to the Trader Assessment Day by Friday, 2 October. It's an in-person event at the Central London office on Friday, 9 October, and Wintermute covers UK train ticket costs.
  • Doing well on the day means a final interview.

Where this could lead

The trading roles on offer start in 2027, at a company that trades across centralized exchanges, on-chain protocols and traditional venues, runs an OTC desk offering spot, options, forwards and CFDs to institutions, and backs and incubates early-stage projects through Wintermute Ventures. Most of the markets Wintermute trades never close, and new ones keep appearing. This year alone, the company started providing liquidity on prediction markets, traded its first single-name equity CFD on the day SpaceX listed on Nasdaq, and set up a registered US broker-dealer. Graduate traders work in those markets, with responsibility and ownership from early on.
